The autumnal equinox, the second of three harvest festivals, is a time of perfect balance when day and night are in harmony. This unique equilibrium is a cause for celebration, a moment to pause and appreciate the unity and balance in the natural world. Mabon (coined in 1970 by Aidan Kelly) signifies a time of transition from summer’s vitality to autumn’s reflective nature, a reminder of the continuous cycles of life, death, and rebirth. It is an excellent period to reflect on the Wheel of the Year, recognize your successes, and let go of what did not serve you during the past twelve months.
This fall, I find myself in the beautiful city of Calgary, Canada. Over the past year, my focus has been on self-healing through therapy and, now, the joy of travel. As the days grow shorter and the nights longer, I feel a newfound lightness that I haven’t felt in a long time. This past year has allowed me to rest and recuperate after the loss of my mother. I’ve discovered a deep sense of introspection and personal growth within that time. I now see the world from a fresh perspective, and my inner light continues to burn brightly, growing each day. How do you observe the upcoming season, and what significance does autumn hold for you?
