Today, I saw a post about fear spread by someone who doesn’t know my community. Seen by a watcher, this troll had never met us, we who were raised from a time long ago, save for the vampires and the demons we may encounter on patrol. We all fight back with a power found deep inside that gives us the wisdom and strength to slay the forces that wish to chain us down with oppression.
Like a supernova of magick that this world had never known, champions and Witches of Facebook showed us how to beat back the forces of darkness that kept us Naked And Afraid. They shared words like spells in articles and books and shows like Joss Whedon’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which gave people of color, women, and queers like me the inspiration I feel to find themselves in a beautiful world that can too often be chaotic.
And that power spread, like a trickle at first, until it grew into a mighty roar when it would seem like a dam had broken into a New Age and exploded into a furious wave of change. The world is a beautiful place filled with ghouls and harpies, but Trans, Gay, Lesbian, and NonBinary Witches are standing with our Allies in the war against hate, and we are not backing down! We are getting smarter every day, and we have to be quick if we ever hope to beat the first evil, hate, once and for all.
